2017 is still getting underway, and that means there’s still a lot of time for people to make travel plans. This year, perhaps more than other years, there may be more of an imperative to take some time, look at what you’ve done with your life, and carve out a space to make that journey you’ve always wanted, or see that destination that’s on your bucket list. Why? There are a few reasons why 2017 may be the year you want to undertake your travel plans, and here they are.
You’re Not Getting Any Younger
Let’s get the obvious out of the way, time is never on your side. If you have the money, the time, the means and the energy to do some traveling now, there’s no reason not to. As you get older, you get saddled with more responsibilities, especially family ones. If you have any time in your life to take that trip you’ve always wanted to, you should do it.
Don’t be one of those people that put off important lifetime moments all for the sake of work. Productivity is important, but enriching yourself is too. Make sure you take those opportunities to do so.
You Don’t Have To Worry About Getting Lost
The 21st century has done one amazing thing for travelers; it’s put the ultimate tour guide in your pocket. No more unfolding maps in the street and looking like an obvious outsider. No more wondering where there’s a good place to eat in the district you just wandered into.
With a phone or a tablet, you never have to worry about missing out on the best of wherever you happen to be. You don’t have to ruin all the surprise by planning everything out in advance, but at least now, when you look around and think “What should we do next” options are easy!
The Geopolitical Landscape Is Changing
We’re now living in uncertain times, and with everything from the United Kingdom leaving the European Union to America’s new administration, the things we took for granted, like Britain’s affluence, or stable relations with China may not stay that way.
With big changes on the horizon for many countries, now may be a good time to visit places like London, Shanghai, or even Istanbul before political or economic changes make these destinations less viable. Some people may think London or Paris “will always be there,” but the condition these places change to may put off some people that prefer them the way they are now.
Luxury Is More Accessible
There used to be a time when only the top 1% of society could enjoy a luxury travel experience. But in 2017, even though the quality hasn’t gone down, the cost has! It’s far easier for people that aren’t super-wealthy to have a travel experience that still feels like it. That doesn’t mean that these travel experiences are cheap, but they are no longer so far out of reach that being willing to “splurge” on yourself can’t get the same results.
If you’re going to enjoy yourself, why not really enjoy yourself? It may seem extravagant, but when you’re enjoying it, in the moment, it’ll be completely worth it.
Cuba Is Open For Business
This is more of a specific destination, but it’s never been easier for Americans to travel to Cuba than it is now! The barriers have come down and one of the most unique travel destinations in the world is now ready for you.
It’s not often a country that was once hard to get into becomes easier to visit. Strike now while the iron is still hot!
