With all of the frequent flier, frequent spender, and frequent traveler reward programs out there, it’s tough to know which ones are worth joining.

Delta Sky Miles
Delta airlines operates more than 5,500 flights every day to more than 330 destinations over 60 countries. As a SkyMiles member, you earn miles based on the amount you pay for your flights with Delta or one of its partners, such as Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic. If you have a Delta SkyMiles American Express card, you’ll earn points on every purchase you make. You can redeem your miles for free flights, cabin upgrades, or items that can be purchased through the SkyMiles marketplace. And when you return from international flights, a Delta representative will meet you ate customs to help you breeze through.
With over 4,000 hotels between the US, Canada, Asia, and Europe, the rewards program at Marriott Hotels makes sense for those who travel for leisure or business. Affiliated brands include Courtyard Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Fairfield Inn, Renaissance, and many more. Not only can you earn reward points when you stay at one of their hotels, you can also earn when you use a Marriott partner, such as Hertz, or if you use a Marriott Rewards credit card. Points can be used for room upgrades, late check-out, flight discounts, car rentals, cruises, or gift cards for dining and merchandise. Points do expire after 2-years, so be sure to keep up with your travels.
National Car Rental Emerald Club
If you happen to rent cars often, you’ll like this program. Points accumulate based on your number of rentals. If you join the basic program, you pay nothing but still get perks such as bypassing the counter and upgrading your rental to vehicles in the “Emerald Aisle.” You can also take advantage of the “One Two Free” promotion to earn free rental coupons that can be stacked with other discounts and coupons. By joining the top tier level of this program, you can also earn free rentals, car delivery, and guaranteed vehicle availability with a 24 hour notice.
The Choice Hotel chain is geared toward families or business travelers who are looking for a good place to stay with less frills. There are over 6,400 Choice brand hotels world-wide including Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Ascend Collection, and many more. Choice points are earned with each night you stay (with extra points given on weekday stays) and by using the Choice Privileges Visa card. Points can be redeemed for free nights their hotels, gift cards, virtual shopping trips at Amazon, and can even be donated to charitable organizations. And now, your points don’t expire as long as there is activity on your account every 18-months.
Those who travel domestically and to the Caribbean can fly JetBlue and earn points for every dollar spent. You can also gain points when you book flights with six of their partner airlines, stay at an affiliated hotel, rent a vehicle, or make a purchase with a retail partner. And you can even earn points through social media connections or by making purchases with the JetBlue MasterCard. Points can be used on future air travel with JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines, or toward a JetBlue getaway vacation package.
