5 Hotels For The Luxury Traveler

Brittany Reed

You need not look much further than a reality TV show to find a luxury hotel. The celebrities of today not only boast their favorite boutiques, they take you inside and up close to get the best view of what it’s like to travel in style.

Most people are unlikely to plan for luxury travel as often as the stars, but when you do get to plan a vacation, you want to do it right. What you see isn’t always what you get, but when we went looking for the 5 best hotels for the traveler who wants to be pampered in luxury, we found the ones that lived up to all they promise—and more.

1.  El Colibri. Cordoba, Argentina
It’s a rancher’s delight for those who are looking for a little bit of adventure and a whole lot of luxury. This Spanish Colonial hotel offers you the best of all worlds, starting with a morning horseback ride through the thick, green mountain trails. You’ll have an afternoon polo match on the private ground to work up a sweat, but you’ll have the chance to relax with your glass of wine as you admire the antiques that fill the house. And the meal that you eat each evening once roamed the grounds; all meat comes from animals raised on the property.

2.  ALDEN Hotel Splügenschloss. Zurich, Switzerland
Spacious rooms with pure white walls and large picture windows make you feel like you belong here. The private balconies overlook the cityscape and you’re only a short trip to the Swiss countryside for a day of adventure. Indulge in the warmth of your private whirlpool tub after your 5-star Mediterranean meal from Restaurant ALDEN where the sun sets off the terrace as you watch in awe.

3.  The London West Hollywood. West Hollywood, California
A baby when it comes to the world of hotel accommodations, The London just opened within the last year. But this freshman experience is well beyond that which you would find at places that have been around the block. Plenty of A-listers call this the-place-to-be, and with Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant on site, you can see why. A rooftop pool and sundeck, English-garden style landscape, and private cabanas make this a must-stay.

4.  Grand Hotel Tremezzo. Lake Como, Italy
5 Hotels For The Luxury TravelerIt’s a luxury spa for those who seek the best of the best. From the gorgeous views of Lake Como to the spa treatments that infuse natural herbs, this is a place to cast your cares away. Rooftop suites include an outdoor terrace, Jacuzzi tub, and a private butler while The Hammam Suite features a couple’s bathtub and steam room with white marble fixtures. The hotel also offers a common area with a Mediterranean bath, steam bath, sauna, ice fountain, and relaxation areas that have stunning views of the lake.

5.  Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi. Santa Fe, New Mexico
The setting itself is beautiful as this hotel gives its guests the best of the southwest. Your eyes will feast on the artwork inspired by the indigenous Anasazi tribe, while the rest of you feasts on the Southwest/Argentinean fusion food at their award-winning restaurant. The rooms are all decorated in traditional, handcrafted furnishings with wooden ceilings and kiva fireplaces. An outdoor patio gives guests a place to relax, watch the sun set, and enjoy made-to-order margaritas.
